The motel turned out to be literally around the corner from the neighborhood my Grandmother grew up in! Next door to her house was the home of an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi (the white building behind the tree on th right); next door to that was the synagogue seen here. It's now a Masonic Lodge, but you can still see the Star of David stained glass windows there.
